SAT . đź’” TEXAS COMMUNITY MOURNS AFTER THIRD TEEN DIES IN TRAGIC SLEDDING ACCIDENT

This is a devastating story to share.

Tonight, a third Texas teenager has lost their life following a tragic makeshift sledding accident, leaving another community shattered by grief.

The latest heartbreak comes from Ponder, Texas, where family, friends, and classmates are mourning the loss of 17-year-old Caden Nowicki.

Caden was a senior at Ponder High School and a standout football player, known for his strength on the field and his presence among his peers. During the recent winter storm, Caden was reportedly riding inside a kayak being pulled by an ATV down a road — a moment meant to be fun, harmless, and unforgettable.

Instead, it turned tragic.

Authorities say the kayak veered off the roadway and slammed into a fence, throwing Caden with devastating force. He was airlifted to the hospital and spent three days fighting for his life in the ICU. Despite every effort, his body could not overcome the injuries.

Caden passed away, surrounded by love.

His death comes just days after two best friends in Frisco, Texas, were killed in a similar incident involving a sled being pulled behind a Jeep. What many view as innocent winter fun has now claimed the lives of three young Texans in a matter of days.

The driver of the ATV and a passenger were not physically injured and are undoubtedly carrying the emotional weight of this tragedy.

In a statement, Caden’s family shared that in just a few short days, he showed everyone around him the true meaning of love, unity, and community. Since his passing, an outpouring of support has surrounded the family — a reflection of the impact Caden had in his 17 years of life.

As Texas communities grieve, families are urging others to pause and consider the dangers of makeshift sledding behind vehicles — especially during severe weather.

💔 Please keep Caden Nowicki’s family, friends, and classmates in your thoughts and prayers.
🙏 Messages of condolence and love are deeply appreciated during this unimaginable time.
