sat . Diagnosed With Cancer Just Two Weeks After Her First Birthday, Little Denvah’s Life Changed Forever

Just two weeks after her first birthday, Denvah was diagnosed with retinoblastoma, a rare form of eye cancer. In an instant, life as her family knew it changed completely.

Her parents first noticed something was wrong when Denvah began squinting. Concerned, her mum Gemma took her to see their GP, but no issues were found. Trusting her instincts, Gemma pushed for a hospital referral — and it was there that doctors discovered tumours in both of Denvah’s eyes.

Since November, Denvah has undergone laser therapy, cryotherapy, and chemotherapy. Despite countless hospital visits and incredibly tough days, her courage has shone through every step of her journey.

Gemma shared:

“Although Denvah has already lost vision completely in her right eye, the latest scans show the tumours in her left eye are shrinking, and we’ve noticed a slight improvement in her vision. We couldn’t wish for anything more right now.”

To honor her incredible bravery and give the family something positive to celebrate, Gemma nominated Denvah for a Star Award, recognizing the strength of children facing cancer.

If you know a child or young person as brave as Denvah, you can nominate them for a Cancer Research UK for Children & Young People Star Award today using the link in the comments.
