sat . Doctors Fight to Save Hunter’s Arms — and This Unsung Hero Needs Us Now More Than Ever

Just yesterday, we shared the harrowing story of 24-year-old lineman Hunter Alexander, who nearly lost his life while working through brutal ice storm conditions so others could keep their heat, light, and safety.

While restoring power, a powerful electric shock tore through Hunter’s body, leaving catastrophic injuries to his arms and hands and sending him to the ICU in Louisiana. It was a moment that changed everything — not just for Hunter, but for the family watching helplessly as doctors fought to save his life.

Now, an update from his father, Daren, reveals just how intense and uncertain this battle remains.

Hunter has been back in surgery yet again. Today brought immense pain, but also a glimmer of hope.

Once more, doctors were able to avoid amputation.

Surgeons removed severely damaged tissue from Hunter’s right thumb, left forearm, and wrist, and confirmed that the major nerves and blood vessels in his arms still appear intact. In a situation this severe, that news alone feels nothing short of a miracle.

But the road ahead is long and grueling.

Hunter is suffering from third-degree burns on his left forearm and wrist. He has open wounds currently covered with wound vacs and will require skin grafts. Doctors say at least two to three more surgeries are expected in the coming days as they work urgently to save as much healthy tissue as possible.

Through it all, Hunter’s spirit remains unbroken.

Despite the pain, he is awake, thinking ahead, and preparing to move out of the ICU as soon as a bed becomes available. In true Hunter fashion, he’s even figuring out how to rig a way to hold his phone — just so he can stay connected with friends and loved ones.

That’s who he is.

Hunter’s story is a powerful reminder of the unseen cost of keeping communities running during disasters. While most of us take shelter, there are people like him who step forward without hesitation, risking everything so others won’t be left in the cold or the dark.

Please keep Hunter in your prayers. His family says they feel the love and support — and that it’s helping more than we can possibly know.

If you could leave one message of encouragement for a young man who nearly gave everything so others could stay safe, what would you say to Hunter today?
