LDL. KOH LTON HOSPITALIZED AFTER SUDDEN FEVER AS CHEMOTHERAPY COMPLICATIONS ARISE

A day the family hoped would pass quietly took an unexpected turn when Kohlton developed a fever and was admitted to the hospital for urgent care.

Medical teams acted quickly and thoroughly. A chest X-ray was performed and came back clear, offering an initial sense of relief. However, multiple viral panels were also run, and Kohlton tested positive for the flu—an unwelcome but not entirely unexpected result given his weakened immune system.

Because Kohlton’s neutrophil count is currently at zero, doctors immediately started IV antibiotics as a critical precaution. Blood cultures were also drawn to ensure his central line remains clean and that no hidden infection is developing. In patients undergoing chemotherapy, even a small fever is treated as a serious emergency, and no risks are taken.

At the moment, Kohlton is exhausted, uncomfortable, and clearly miserable. His family says he doesn’t feel well at all and keeps wishing for one simple thing—his own bed at home. Watching a child feel this sick, while being unable to make it better, is one of the most painful realities of this journey.

This situation reflects the harsh truth of chemotherapy and low blood counts: conditions can change rapidly, and what seems manageable one moment can become critical the next. While the medical response has been swift and appropriate, it doesn’t make the emotional weight any lighter.

The family says they are grateful Kohlton is in the right place, being closely monitored and receiving exactly the care he needs. Still, tonight is a heavy one.

They ask for continued thoughts, prayers, and positive energy for Kohlton—that the antibiotics work quickly, the blood cultures remain clear, and he can rest, recover, and return home as soon as it’s safe.

They also ask for prayers for the entire family, who are navigating the challenge of dividing responsibilities while standing strong for Kohlton through yet another difficult chapter.
