SAT . “GOOD WILL IN ALABAMA”: THE ROBERTS FAMILY SHOWS HOW FAITH CAN OUTRUN FEAR
If there were ever a family that deserved its own TV show, it might be the Roberts family of Ralph, Alabama. You could call it “Good Will in Alabama” — and every episode would leave you smiling through tears.
Just a few days ago, Brittney Roberts shared a short video recorded while she was driving her husband Jason (in the back seat) and their son Will (in the passenger seat) to Birmingham for a doctor’s appointment. The destination was serious. The reason was heavy. But the atmosphere inside that car? Full of laughter, faith, and unmistakable love.
Will continues his courageous fight against bone cancer. Doctors have recently identified a few more spots, and the family was heading to Birmingham for radiation mapping to prepare for the next phase of treatment. Will’s upcoming radiation plan includes five total treatments targeting the right femur and tibia, as well as the left humerus and clavicle.
Despite it all, Brittney says it was a good day.
“We laughed and lived in the moment of aggravating Jason,” she wrote.
Jason had asked Brittney to drive so he could work on a few things along the way — a decision Brittney admits was “not wise,” because he is not a good passenger. Her solution? “I drove it like I stole it to raise his blood pressure!!”
It’s a small moment. A lighthearted one. But it says everything.
In the middle of scans, treatments, and uncertainty, the Roberts family continues to choose joy. They choose humor. They choose faith over fear.
“Thank you for continuing to love, pray, and stand with our family,” Brittney wrote. “Your support means more than you know.”
And it shows.
It’s hard to find words for how close, optimistic, and grounded this family remains while facing something so frightening. They remind everyone watching that faith doesn’t erase fear — but it can shrink it. And sometimes, it can even make room for laughter in the front seat of a long drive to the hospital.
For that lesson alone, the Roberts family deserves our thanks — and our continued prayers.
