LDL. Encouraging Update: Cleighton Strickland’s Trach Removed at Shepherd Center

The days feel like a rollercoaster — up and down, with no real break in between.

Amy Strickland sent an update on her son, Cleighton Strickland, who suffered a traumatic brain injury in an accident about 10 weeks ago. This morning, there’s a bright spot to share: doctors at Shepherd Center in Atlanta have removed Cleighton’s trach. Amy says it will take a few days for the opening to heal.

But the hard moments keep coming too. Doctors also found that Cleighton has kidney stones, and anyone who has experienced them knows how incredibly painful they can be.

Still, Cleighton is hanging in there. Amy says he’s showing small signs of movement, and the 18-year-old from Daphne, Alabama had his arm casted a few days ago as doctors work to stretch and position his arm properly.

This weekend will be a busy one at Shepherd Center. Cleighton’s girlfriend Mary Claire and her family are coming to visit, and as always, Cleighton’s family is staying close — right where they belong.

If you’d like to send Cleighton a card or letter, you can mail it to:
