SAT . Update on Will Roberts: Scan Results Are In — And the Family Is Staying the Course

It’s the news many of us have been waiting for.

An update on Will Roberts, the young warrior bravely fighting bone cancer, was shared by his mom Brittney after the family met with doctors following two days of scans completed just days ago.

Will’s journey has already been long and painful. Months ago, he underwent surgery that resulted in the removal of part of his leg. Later, doctors also removed cancerous spots on his pelvis and femur — procedures no child should ever have to endure.

Over the weekend, new scans were completed, and Brittney shared the findings directly with those following Will’s fight.

The scans revealed four new small spots:

  • Three on his remaining “good” leg
  • One in the pelvic area

Doctors noted that none of the spots appear immediately threatening, particularly because they are not located near the spine, which would raise more urgent concerns.

After reviewing all imaging and amended reports, Will’s oncologist laid out the plan moving forward:

  • Continue the daily chemotherapy pill
  • Proceed with targeted spot radiation to select areas, pending approval
  • Repeat scans in 4–6 weeks
  • Continue waiting for MEPACT immunotherapy, which is currently affected by a nationwide shortage

One critical detail in understanding these results, Brittney explained, is timing.

The scans were completed about a week before Will began his chemo pill. Given how aggressive Will’s cancer had become, doctors believe it is possible that some of the spots either developed or became visible during that short window before treatment officially started.

The next scan cycle, however, will offer clearer answers.

“This next scan period will give us a much better picture,” Brittney shared, “because Will will be on Cabo continuously the entire time between scans, allowing doctors to better evaluate how his body is responding to treatment.”

For now, the family remains steady and grounded.

They aren’t rushing ahead.
They aren’t giving in to fear.
They are doing what they’ve learned to do best.

They stay the course.
They treat what they see.
They watch closely.
And they keep marching forward — one step, one scan, one prayer at a time.

Brittney ended the update with heartfelt gratitude:
“Thank you for continuing to love, support, and pray for Will and our family.”

We echo that thanks to Brittney and Jason for continuing to share Will’s journey so openly. They’ve shared that the prayers coming in from around the world truly mean more than words can express.

If you would like to continue supporting Will:

Please continue to lift Will and his family up in prayer as they face the road ahead — together. 🙏❤️
