SAT . GOOD NEWS THIS MORNING: 13-YEAR-OLD BRANTLEY SIMPSON IS MAKING REMARKABLE PROGRESS

This morning brings good news out of Elrod, Alabama — and it’s the kind of update everyone has been hoping to hear.

Brantley Simpson, a 13-year-old eighth grader at Sipsey Valley Middle School, is making encouraging progress just three weeks after a devastating ATV accident. Brantley is also a classmate and close friend of Will Roberts, making this journey one felt deeply by his school and community.

The accident happened on December 23rd, when Brantley suffered skull fractures, facial fractures, and a brain bleed. The injuries were severe. For days, Brantley was unconscious and on a ventilator, and his family faced an agonizing wait filled with fear and uncertainty.

But yesterday, hope arrived.

Brantley is doing so much better,” his mom, Kasey, shared in an update that instantly lifted spirits.
She went on to say words no parent takes lightly after such trauma:

“He’s off the ventilator, walking, talking, and eating. He’s joking with the family and telling us he wants to go home.”

Those simple moments — laughter, conversation, appetite — are milestones that now feel monumental.

Brantley remains at Children’s of Alabama for a few more days while doctors and nurses closely monitor his condition, particularly ensuring that his blood thinners are properly managed as part of his recovery.

“We hope to go home on Wednesday,” said Kayla, sharing cautious optimism as the family looks ahead.

For a young boy who just weeks ago was fighting to breathe, this progress is nothing short of incredible.

As Brantley continues healing, his family asks for continued encouragement and support. And for those following his story, now is the perfect time to send messages of hope, strength, and love.

Let’s lift up Brantley and his family.
Let’s remind them they’re not walking this road alone.
And let’s celebrate the power of good news — one brave step forward at a time.
