Today marks day 10 in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for little Jude, and his family continues to navigate the rollercoaster of ups and downs that come with his critical care. Over the past few days, the medical team decided to give Jude a period of rest and support on the hospital ventilator without making major changes to his respiratory or medication regimen.
“This approach has clearly helped him,” his family shared. “We can see by how he’s improving that this was exactly what he needed.”
Tomorrow, the team will consult with pulmonology to discuss the next steps in his treatment plan. Additionally, wound care specialists will assess a small area of concern around his IV site, where some redness and swelling have appeared.
Despite the challenges, Jude’s family is grateful for moments of calm and progress. “Overall, he had a restful day, and we are so thankful for that,” they wrote.
The family also expressed deep gratitude for the outpouring of love and support they’ve received. “Thank you for your continued prayers. We have felt so loved through all of this, and it truly means the world to us,” they said.
While Jude’s journey in the PICU is far from over, his family remains hopeful and committed to giving him the best care possible, one day at a time.
