LDL. Texas Mother Left on Life Support After Giving Birth, Family Faces Unthinkable Decision
What should have been one of the happiest moments of her life became a devastating tragedy for Victoria Rodriguez and her family.
Victoria, who was due to give birth on January 29, suddenly became violently ill on January 4. She was vomiting and feeling extremely unwell when her family rushed her to an emergency room in Austin, Texas. Within about 15 minutes of arriving, Victoria became unresponsive.
Doctors acted quickly to save her unborn child, performing an emergency delivery. Her baby girl, A-Brianna Victoria Rios, was born weighing just four pounds. She is alive and healthy.
Victoria, however, never regained consciousness.
A CT scan revealed that she had suffered a massive brain bleed. Doctors have told the family the injury is not repairable and not operable. Victoria remains on life support as her parents face the heartbreaking decision no family should ever have to make.
Victoria never got the chance to meet her newborn daughter.
She leaves behind three young girls: Gabby, 12 and about to turn 13; Marylyn, just 4 years old; and newborn A-Brianna, who entered the world on January 4.
Family members say Victoria had a heart of gold — generous, kind, and always willing to help others. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Not long before her sudden illness, Victoria had been baptized, a moment that held deep meaning for her and her loved ones.
Now, as the family gathers around her hospital bed, they are asking for prayers, support, and comforting words during this unimaginable time.
A baby girl is here.
A mother should be here too. 💔
