sat . FROM CAMPUS TO CARE: THE LONG ROAD HOME FOR UGA FRESHMAN AYDEN SLIPSAGER

A dream freshman year at the University of Georgia has been tragically interrupted. After a devastating skiing accident in Colorado, Dunwoody native Ayden Slipsager is now fighting his way back from a traumatic brain injury.

A Life Changed in a Second

Ayden Slipsager had everything to look forward to. A recent graduate of Dunwoody High School and a proud freshman at the University of Georgia, his life was full of exams, football games, and new friendships. However, a winter skiing trip to Colorado turned into a nightmare when a severe fall resulted in a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).

The news sent shockwaves through the Dunwoody and UGA communities. What was meant to be a break from studies became a life-altering battle for survival.

The Fight for Recovery at Shepherd Center

Ayden has since been transported back to Atlanta to undergo intensive rehabilitation at the Shepherd Center, one of the nation’s top hospitals for brain injury recovery.

Rehabilitating from a TBI is a grueling process—physically, emotionally, and financially. It requires relearning basic skills and months of specialized therapy. While the road is steep, Ayden’s youth and the strength he showed as a student-athlete provide a glimmer of hope for his recovery.

A Community United

The Slipsager family is now turning to the community they have been a part of for years. The “Ayden Strong” movement is growing, with friends, alumni, and strangers coming together to lift the burden off a family facing the unthinkable.

In times of crisis, the strength of a community is measured by how it carries those who cannot walk on their own. For Ayden, every message of support and every contribution is a step closer to getting back to the campus he loves.
