SAC.Once Called “The Sickest Kid in Alabama,” 6-Year-Old Kolten Is Still Fighting — and This Is How You Can Help
Kolten is 5yrs old he was diagnosed with Bcell acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in November since he was diagnosed he ended up with a blood infection called veridian strep.. he started to breath very heavy and was rushed to PICU floor..while they were putting in his breathing tube he aspirated it went straight to his lung.. between that and the veridian strep that had attacked his heart and lungs he was put on full life support/ECMO.. for a couple of hours we were told he was the sickest child in Alabama (Dr.Burton) all he could say for days was this is a hopeful situation.. he was put on dialysis and at one put had 32 different medicine/machines hooked up to him at all times for a very long time. December 28th dialysis was removed for a test run and he did great.. December 31 the ECMO machine was stopped for a test run and on January 1st he’s was free of the ECMO machine January 6th I noticed him leaning the right and had a drup in his right eye.. I said something for 2 days on the 8th we found out that our son had a stroke… his body has had a rough time with the high dose chemotherapy, it cause him to have PRES IN THE BRAIN. He could barely see or move.. boy is he so strong.. Kolten is still not able to walk but he can talk and move both arms now.. Kolten has been doing great these last few weeks at home while taking low does chemo. We are maintenance phase.. He is in remission..
My reason for making this is due to us having so many set back our vehicle we own has some problems and not able to drive.. we got another with payments and the transmission is going out. Almost broke down twice yesterday while taking our son to his oncology appointment.. Now we have no way of going.. bubbas Medicaid will not cover his diapers and 2 medicine he needs daily. We also have 2 girls about to start school.. we have some school stuff already, just want them happy with what they get because they themselves have went through so much over the last 8 months..
We hate asking for help and as always prayers are the absolute best.
