LDL. Community Invited to Honor 11-Year-Old Jace Watkins at Funeral This Friday in Hueytown
It has been four days since the loss of 11-year-old Jace Watkins, and the grief his family is carrying is still fresh and heavy.
Jace passed away last Saturday from complications related to the flu. In the days since, loved ones have been trying to do what families are forced to do when life changes overnight: wake up, breathe, and take the next step—even when their hearts don’t want to.
Now, Jace’s family is sharing information for those who want to honor him and support them in person.
Funeral Details
Jace’s grandmother, Joann Parsons, reached out to share the funeral arrangements and to thank everyone who has offered prayers, love, and condolences. She also shared photos of Jace—images the family hopes will help others remember him not just through the tragedy, but through the sweetness and joy he brought into their lives.
The funeral will be held:
- Date: Friday, January 2
- Time: 2:00 PM
- Location: People’s Funeral Home
195 Brooklane Drive
Hueytown, AL 35023
Viewing Times (Same Day)
The family will also hold a viewing at the funeral home on Friday before the service:
- Family viewing: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
- Friends viewing: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
“Your Prayers Mean the World”
Joann Parsons asked that the community know how much every kind word has mattered to the family in these first days of mourning. She said the outpouring of support has helped carry them through moments that feel impossible.
For families grieving the loss of a child, the days after the funeral can feel even lonelier, as visitors return home and routines resume. That is why continued support—messages, prayers, and check-ins—can be so meaningful.
As Jace’s loved ones prepare to lay him to rest, they are asking for one simple thing: keep praying, and keep remembering.
If you are able to attend, your presence can be a powerful way to honor Jace and surround his family with comfort. And if you cannot attend, even a short message of sympathy or a prayer shared in his memory can remind this family they are not alone.
May our words today bring comfort to those who loved Jace most. 🙏🤍
