LDL. Hero State Trooper Killed in Delaware DMV Shooting Saves Lives Before Passing

Delaware — Tragedy struck at a Delaware DMV today when a gunman opened fire, leaving one devoted state trooper dead but credited with saving multiple lives.

Corporal Matthew Tyler Snook, a dedicated officer and loving husband and father, was on an overtime assignment at the DMV when the violence erupted. Witnesses report that Ty acted instantly to protect those around him. He pushed others out of harm’s way, instructed them to run, and stood between innocent civilians and the shooter.

In the process, he was shot from behind and later succumbed to his injuries. Authorities confirmed that his actions allowed numerous individuals to escape the scene unharmed.

Snook’s family now faces the heartbreak of losing a husband, father, and provider. His young daughter will grow up knowing her father as a hero, yet experiencing the void left by his absence. Colleagues describe him as someone whose commitment to service and instinct to protect defined his life, both on and off duty.

“Ty lived his oath every day,” said a fellow officer. “He was the first to help, the first to protect, the last to think of himself.”

A memorial is being planned for Corporal Snook, and community members are being asked to send messages of support and condolences to his family during this incredibly difficult time.

His legacy as a protector and hero will not be forgotten.
