A family celebration in California turned tragic on November 29 when gunfire erupted at a child’s birthday party, leaving four people dead and ten others wounded, according to local authorities. No suspect has yet been identified.
Heather Brent, spokesperson for the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office, said the shooting occurred around 6 p.m. inside a rented event space in Stockton, where relatives and friends had gathered for a young child’s birthday.
In total, 14 people — including several children — were shot. Four victims were pronounced dead at the scene or shortly afterward, police confirmed.

Officials said details remain scarce, but preliminary findings suggest the attack may have been targeted rather than random. Investigators are examining all potential motives while working to piece together the events leading up to the shooting.
Authorities are urging anyone with information, footage, or eyewitness accounts to come forward to help identify the shooter.
The Gun Violence Archive, a nonprofit that tracks gun-related incidents, defines a mass shooting as an event in which at least four victims are injured, excluding the perpetrator. According to the organization, the United States has recorded over 500 mass shootings so far this year.
